Welcome to the North Lincolnshire Council Image Archive. The archive, established in 2000, is an ongoing project to digitise the council's photographic collections and make them available to the public. This has been helped by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. This website is the latest stage in this project and is supported by a grant from the Yorkshire Museums, Libraries and Archives Council. It allows people from all over the world to see these images and promotes the long term care of the collections. North Lincolnshire is a largely rural community centred on Scunthorpe - a town founded on the iron and steel industry. Although this industry is relatively new, beginning in the 1860s, the area has a history of human settlement stretching back several thousand years. You will find more information about the region on the Tourism and Leisure pages. For help on using the archive and ordering prints, click on the links to the left of this page. You will also be able to go to these help pages from the archive itself. We have very few details about some of the images in the collection. If you can provide any further information, please use the form provided. We would also be interested to hear about any images you have that may be suitable for inclusion on the site. New images are always being added to the archive and you can view these by clicking on the 'new images' link to the left of this page. We hope you enjoy using the archive and are able to find any specific
images you are looking for.
