Using the Database

You must accept and agree the terms and conditions of use on the 'Search the Images' page to gain access to the collection. Once you have clicked 'Accept' you will be taken to the main search page where you’ll find the options described here to help you find the images you want.

Searching:
Keyword search - enter a keyword, or keywords, to direct your search.
Search by subject- use this option to search for images of a particular subject, or place by selecting from the drop-down list.

Search by subject - use the drop-down lists of categories. For example if you want to find all the images of bridges select 'Buildings and Structures' from the main category and then 'Bridges' from the sub-category.

Search by Place- this allows you to search by the name of the Place. Select from the drop-down lists of Places; Photographers.

Results:
The results of your search will be displayed with eight 'thumbnail images' on each page. Use the 'Next' and 'Previous' buttons to move back and forth through the pages. If you find you're having to scroll down to see all the images or text you may find that pressing the function key F11 on your keyboard will make the pages fit on your screen better. Press the F11 key again to return the pages to normal.
Viewing and Printing the Images:
Clicking on a thumbnail image will bring up a larger version, together with all the information about that image. To enlarge the image still further click on 'Zoom' - you now also have the option to print a low quality copy for personal use only from this page.
Buying Images:
High quality glossy photographic prints can be ordered by adding images to a 'shopping basket'. Browse through the images and, on those that you're interested in buying, select the quantity and size of print that you want to order then click 'Add to basket'. You can always remove them from the basket later on.
Confirming your Order:
Once you have finished browsing and adding images to your basket, click the 'View basket' button to see what you're about to order. You can change your order at this point. You can also remove images you don't want to buy by making the number required = 0. Click the 'Go to Checkout' button.
Ordering & Paying:
Select the country that you want the images delivered to and enter your Postcode/Zip code. Click 'Proceed'. This shows you a breakdown of what you are ordering and a total amount together with postage and packing.

You now have the option of either ordering securely on-line using your credit or debit card or printing the order out and posting it to us with a cheque for the full amount. Make cheques payable to House of Images. We accept these cards:

All photographs are sent recorded delivery. All prices include VAT at the current rate.
